How to Install a Custom Printed Valance Banner on a Plaint Gazebo

This guide explains how to install a custom printed valance banner onto a normal gazebo roof. The banner comes with loop Velcro pre sewn on the back. You will need to attach provided hook Velcro onto your existing gazebo valance first.

There are two installation methods available:

  • Option 1 – Iron on hook Velcro (quick and convenient)
  • Option 2 – Sew on hook Velcro (most reliable and long term)

What You Need

  • Your normal gazebo roof (Oxford fabric with PU coating)
  • Custom printed valance banner with loop Velcro pre-sewn on
  • Hook Velcro (provided in the pack)
  • Option A: Household iron
  • Option B: Sewing machine with strong polyester thread
  • Marker pen or chalk
  • Flat working surface

Step 1 – Position the Banner

  • Lay the gazebo roof flat on a clean surface.
  • Place the banner along the front valance edge.
  • Centre the design properly.
  • Lightly mark where the hook Velcro should be installed.
  • Remove the banner before fixing the Velcro.

Option 1 – Iron On Hook Velcro

This method is suitable for light to moderate use and is quick to complete.

  1. Position the hook Velcro: Remove the hook Velcro strips from the banner and place them on the marked spots on the fabric side of the roof. Keep them straight and aligned. You may glue them one by one.
  2. Flip and iron: Flip the roof so the Velcro faces down. The inside is smooth and coated; the outside is normal fabric. Iron on the smooth inside surface to melt the glue and bond the Velcro to the outer fabric. A test should also be carried out to determine whether the coated surface of your gazebo roof could be damaged by high heat. If there is any sign of damage, please stop using the ironing method immediately.
  3. Finish and check: Press firmly, allow to cool, then check the bond. Once secure, flip the roof back and attach the valance banner.

Note: Adhesive Velcro may weaken in high heat or strong wind conditions.

Option 2 – Sew On Hook Velcro (Recommended)

If you have access to a sewing machine, sewing the hook Velcro onto the gazebo valance is the most reliable installation method.

  1. Align the Velcro along the marked line.
  2. Pin or clip in place.
  3. Sew around all four edges of each strip.
  4. Use strong polyester thread suitable for outdoor use.

This method provides:

  • Stronger long term attachment
  • No glue softening in heat
  • Better performance in wind
  • Ideal for frequent commercial use

Final Step – Attach the Banner

  • Reinstall the gazebo roof onto the frame if removed.
  • Press the banner firmly onto the hook Velcro.
  • Check alignment across the full valance width.
  • Ensure all sections are securely bonded.
